Ammunition Stolen From Ravenna Arsenal Probe Underway

Ravenna army ordnance officials investigated the theft of large quantities of water damaged shotgun and rifle ammunition from the Ravenna arsenal. The purloined shells were reportedly sold in bars around Ravenna and Windham areas. The stock, valued at 106000 dollars, was brought by George Worthington Co. after a basement flood, and more than five million rounds were designated for destruction. Norman F. Worthington said 1300 dollars was paid to destroy cartons. Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. runs the arsenal and provided no statement pending the probe.

Slay-For-Pay Gunman Killed in Texas Case

Police found 49 year old Leroy Eggleston dead in a shallow well six miles north of Fort Worth. The case leaves only two principals alive in the slay-for-pay murder of oilman William P. Clark, 61, killed May 22, 1953, with Mary Clark and Harry Huggins remaining under indictments and free on bond.

Cambridge Man Jailed After Wife Stabbing Incident

A 33 year old Cambridge man, Donald Watkins, is jailed as police investigate a stabbing of his wife and his attempted suicide. Mrs Mabel Watkins is in fair condition with cuts to the left side shoulder and eyelid. Watkins’ wounds are superficial and he had just been released after a two week assault and battery sentence.
