14 Nation Parley Sought on Laos as War Fears Rise

Radio Peking broadcast a plan by Red China for a 14 nation conference on Laos accusing the United States of planning to send troops through Thailand into Laos. The note warned a general civil war in Laos is touch and go. Chen Yi to Britain and the Soviet Union proposed the meeting in Phnom Penh.

Heavy firing reported on Cyprus lakes Kyrenia clash

In the Kyrenia Mountains north of Nicosia heavy firing broke out between Turkish and Greek Cypriot forces. Canadian troops came under fire from Turkish positions as the U N reported. The clash lasted about thirty minutes with no ground advances by either side. The U N said Turkish forces initiated the firing.

CAPE KENNEDY Fla AP the first unmanned model of the Apollo moonship is postponed to Thursday due to a frozen nitrogen valve in ground support gear. After hours of work NASA canceled the countdown with 1 hour 55 minutes left to launch to replace the valve and verify the system. The test aims to qualify Saturn I as it carries no aboard equipment but mirrors the shape of the future vehicle.

Cambridge Rioting Leaves Guardsman Shot In Clash

In Cambridge Maryland a National Guardsman was shot and three others injured as integrationist demonstrators clashed with troops using bayonets and tear gas.
