Apollo 10 commanders Stafford Young and Cernan fire engine to exit lunar orbit and begin 54 hour, 246000 mile voyage home. They will splash down in the Pacific Monday after circling the moon and staging for July’s lunar landing.
Thomas L. Brandt 42 a Logan restaurant owner died early today at Doctors Hospital Columbus after 16 days as a patient and major surgery. Born February 12 1927 in Logan he co founded Brandt's Restaurant in 1948 and was owner and manager at death. He is survived by wife Theresa Turner mother sister brother and two nephews with services Monday at 2 30 p m in the Presbyterian Church Oak Grove Cemetery burial.
Justice William O. Douglas resigns as president of the Albert Parvin Foundation amid controversy over outside income linked to Las Vegas casinos. Critics in Congress urge a full probe, tying his exit to pressure after Justice Fortas' resignation and a concern over the foundation’s dealings. Douglas cited health and a yearlong effort to find a replacement.
Akron General Hospital files a $450000 lawsuit against a union allied with about 230 striking nonprofessional workers. The hospital seeks an injunction against the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employes to stop interference with roughly 500 workers who stayed on the job.
British and American aircraft renewed an Atlantic search for a U S Air Force C130 stolen from Mildenhall base by 23 year old Sgt Paul Meyer of Poquoson Virginia. Meyer reportedly was homesick and intoxicated after taking off in the $2.3 million transport. He radioed his wife from the cockpit saying autopilot trouble and asked her not to leave home before he vanished over the English Channel. A U S F100 pilot reported seeing the plane in thick clouds before radio contact was lost as ships and planes continued the hunt.
Senate Democratic Leader Mike Mansfield challenged White House claims that U S actions in Vietnam had not risen. He cited ongoing search and destroy missions and B52 bombings over Cambodia as proof of increased military pressure, arguing it could hinder Paris peace talks.
Attorneys for Sterling Lewis former chief laboratory technician at Hocking Valley Community Hospital must file a bill of exceptions by June 6 with the Fourth District Court of Appeals. Lewis appeals a conspiracy to defraud conviction and probationary sentence imposed by Judge Earl D. Parker.

Three 18 year old Lancaster youths were arrested at 5 40 am on charges of stealing two wheels from a car owned by Frank Tipton 145 Gallagher Ave A neighbor reported the theft at 1 51 am and police found the wheels in a car on Second St The trio Richard L Phillips Lewis Dorsie Jr and William Getz were jailed pending a mayoral hearing Police said they denied involvement in another wheel theft from Letha Iles 554 E Second St where lug nuts were removed tires deflated and blocks placed under the axle while the car was parked overnight

A 16-year-old Fairfield School for Boys escapee was captured near Sugar Grove after an all-night chase in Blue Valley aided by State Patrol and multiple counties. Guard Charles Marion, 23, was killed at the school. suspect Roger Craft, 16, and accomplice Steven Patrick, 15, were caught. Patrick jailed with Craft to face charges.
