The Associated Press report notes 27 deaths from tornadoes and drownings across Texas Oklahoma and Kansas after two days of severe storms. Dover Oklahoma faced 190 homeless, relief centers opened, typhoid serum flown in, and Cimarron River floodwaters breached a rail embankment. Silverton Texas endured the season’s worst tornado with 19 dead and 58 injured. west Texas property damage reached about $750000.
President Eisenhower urged a Democratic-controlled Congress to speed up action on his program and called for a Republican Congress next year.
