The House approved a bill raising members expenses for clerk hire and communications with 500 and 3000 dollar allotments, despite protests over late notice. Keefe and Church warned they will seek changes when a companion funding bill arrives, likely next month.

John Kilbane a 51 year old veteran Cleveland firefighter collapsed and died during a ten thousand dollar blaze at Milmar Inc manufacturers of children's furniture. He suffered a heart attack while aiding efforts after thirty years on the force.
O. B. Cummins will succeed William Carner as principal of Lafayette School in Medina. Cummins is a former principal of Litchfield and Brunswick schools, bringing experience from previous assignments.
Justice Department officials say Gearhart Eisler, a 52 year old described as a communist, will be brought back for deportation proceedings after he is intercepted aboard the Polish liner Batory on the Atlantic. Officials emphasize use of regular legal channels to remove him from the United States.
