New phleborheograph aids clot detection at Logan clinic

The first production model of a phleborheograph for detecting blood clots in leg veins and arteries has arrived at Kachelmacher Memorial Varicose Vein Clinic at Hocking Valley Community Hospital in Logan. The device, from Grass Equipment Co., serves clinic and hospital patients and is noninvasive and painless.

The Ohio Farm Bureau Federation warns a Senate subcommittee plan tying state aid to local school support could double rural land taxes within five years. Dean Simeral says the measure would press farmers, who own most rural land, to raise millages, with Southeast Ohio hit hardest as tax bases are lower.
