Canton police hunt a last letter clue as Theresa Ludwig, a divorcee linked to Canton's Cable case, dies by car exhaust in Conneaut. Investigators probe a note, a blond wig, and a possible Akron apartment tie to Theresa Ludwig and Mrs. Cable's 1930s murder while offering rewards. several Canton men had visited the apartment.

Walter Kangas, 31, was shot and killed early today in North Geneva, about 10 miles west of Ashtabula, by a man who demanded $45 saying he had a boy in the hospital. Coroner C. C. Webster reported Kangas died while deputies were taking him to the hospital. Kangas had observed his birthday yesterday.
A police dog in Baltimore woke the Barton family from a burning home on May 10. The heroic dog, forgotten during the blaze, died after alerting 21 people to escape the flames.
Howard Peck technical forester at Camp Hocking was severely injured early today when his car struck a bridge abutment on Route 180 just north of Laurelville. He was found in the road at 4 50 by R A Johnson and Bushong helped move him to Laurelville hospital then to Cherrington Hospital in serious condition with multiple injuries.
In Covington Kentucky May 10 AP the U S circuit court of appeals denied enforcement of a National Labor Relations Board order against Thompson Products Co Cleveland Ohio The judge criticized the boards findings of fact as not sustained by substantial evidence and said the board's actions threaten the labor relations act's purpose The order had demanded reinstatement of three employees and end to opposition to the United Auto Workers CIO affiliate.
News of the death of R. M. Connell, longtime Hocking Valley and C. and O. Rail road employee, at his Wilson avenue home in Columbus. He formerly served as Logan train dispatcher before moving to Columbus. Survived by widow Jennie Gage Connell, a former Logan resident. Funeral Thursday at 12:30 P M at Schoedinger chapel Columbus. Burial in Oak Grove cemetery Logan Thursday afternoon.
NLRB investigator George Slyer arrived in Logan from Louisville to review a charge of interference and intimidation against self organization at the H C Godman Co shoe plant. Working under Philip G Phillips, he will stay at the Ambrose Hotel for at least two days as Local No 155 of United Shoe Workers files the case.
Mrs Lennie Crawford died early today as the second victim in a head on collision eight miles west of Circleville Ohio Her husband aged 63 was killed the day before Eight others were injured Sheriff Charles Radcliff said the second car carried five Leasure brothers Alonzo Wesley Denver Norman and Beeman all held on the case
In Chicago on May 10 AP reports 5 1 2 week old Helaine Colan had her left eye removed to save life from retinal glioma. Experts debated surgery to curb death risk while aiming to preserve right eye vision. Dr. Robert H. Good noted the baby reacted well with little blood loss and no pain.
Logan Rotarians heard a firsthand description of Soviet Russia conditions from Edwin C. Turner former Ohio attorney general. Turner who visited Russia last summer spoke in detail about customs and present day life in the country.
Carl V. Weygandt dismissed today an affidavit of prejudice filed against Knox County Common Pleas Judge Charles D. Hayden by Fred Mosley who faces a first degree murder trial next Monday over his wife's death.
New York May 10 A Rome talks between Hitler and Mussolini reportedly reassured the German leader that Mussolini will stay neutral if Germany tangles with France or Britain. The accord is said to include keeping hands off Czechoslovakia, a key target in Hitlers expansion plans. Britain France and the Soviet Union signaled intervention only if Germany directly attacks, and Poland may be treated as a transit ally for future moves.
In Duckmanton Derbyshire May 10 AP reports two violent gas explosions trapped and killed 72 miners with 49 injured and others entombed. The tragedy follows revived Commons debate prompted by last July Brympo mine blast in Stoke on Trent where 27 miners died.
May 10 AP reports the Japanese navy began an expedition against Amoy in Fukien province. A battle with the Chinese garrison followed as 12 warships bombarded offshore while bombing planes provided support. Leaflets urged foreign residents and vessels to leave Kulangsu Island and warned of occupation of Amoy.
A blast at a coal mine in Welch hospital area killed 33 year old Arthur Brooks of Keyrock and injured two other miners, one possibly fatally, as officials from Red Jacket Junior Coal Co said the premature explosion occurred while tamping explosives in a shot hole.
Joe Adcock reported at 10 15 last night that a wheel and tire were stolen from his milk truck. A second wheel and tire were taken during the night from a truck owned by Deputy Sheriff Rudolph Brandt parked in front of his High street home.
Government leaders set Thursday for House action on a $3 billion relief and public works bill and plan to adjourn Congress by mid June. They expected little opposition beyond Republicans as debate would begin this afternoon in Washington.
The $3.054 billion bill estimates 4,135,000 jobs, compares to 3,124,919 on April 16, with WPA getting 1.25 billion to employ 2.8 million from July to February. PWA to receive 965 million for construction and a June 30 1940 extension.
