Court To Hear Case Against Coal Firm

A hearing is set in Hocking County Common Pleas Court on an injunctive suit by Donald and Joyce Habener of Westerville against Key Coal Co. of Wheelersburg. The Habeners claim 110 acres in Washington Township were damaged by a road built by the defendant to service its mining, constituting trespass. They seek an injunction, restoration of land, $200,000 in damages, costs, and relief. Attorneys are Frank A. Koenig for the plaintiffs and James F. Shumaker for the defendant.

Laurelville Girl to Undergo Kidney Transplant Today

Cheryl Wagner 13 of Laurelville was set for a kidney transplant at University Hospital Columbus. Funds totaling 552.25 were raised by Laurelville Little League for the Logan Elm seventh actor's benefit at Laurelville Elementary School gym last Saturday night. Man bound over in marijuana case in Hocking County

Russell Spence of Dicken Addition was bound over to the grand jury under a 4000 dollar bond after a preliminary hearing. He is charged with knowingly selling or offering to sell marijuana. A second trafficking charge will be dismissed and he was released on recognizance.

Escape and Obstructing Justice Charges Filed in Hocking County

Two inmates, Michael Hoyd and James Mowery, face escape charges after reportedly fleeing the Hocking County jail on May 2. Anna Mowery and William Garrett are charged with obstructing justice in connection with the escape. Hoyd and Mowery wait in jail with bonds set at 3000 each. others released on 3000 recognizance bonds.
