Mrs. Hazel Ewing Dies At 67 In Logan Ohio
Mrs. Hazel Kanode Ewing, 67, wife of former Probate Judge Edgar L. Ewing, died at 2 45 a.m. at her home 568 North Market Street after more than a year of serious illness. Born in Logan, she was a daughter of Robert and Lucy Kern Kanode and a 1908 Logan High School graduate. She worked at local stores and in the city auditor's office, belonged to Logan First Presbyterian Church and Venus chapter 76 Order of the Eastern Star, and spent most of her life in Logan. She married Ewing in 1942 and lived in Marietta and Belpre while he was a pharmacist from 1949 to 1954. Surviving are a sister, two stepdaughters, four step-grandchildren, and four step-great-grandchildren. Funeral is set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Heinlein Funeral Home with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends may call after 10 a.m. Tuesday.

OSU Trustee Secretary Dies of Leukemia
COLUMBUS Carl E Steele longtime Ohio State University booster and secretary of the university board of trustees died in University Hospital Saturday from leukemia. He was 83 and will be buried in Spring Grove Cemetery Medina after Wednesday services. Steele served as secretary to the board of trustees since 1904 and as secretary of the board of control for the agriculture experiment station since 1921.
