Mine Aide Held On Threat Charge To President Eisenhower
Sam Stepp a 35 year old mine caretaker from Inez Kentucky was jailed after missing a $1 000 bond on a federal charge threatening the life of President Eisenhower. He told newsmen he warned the FBI because he was worried. Authorities said Stepp at a Buena Vista hotel bar declared if close enough he would kill the President and he had a 30 30 bullet. Stepp was arrested in Glenwood Springs after a statewide alert. He had been working as a mine caretaker near Buena Vista and previously held odd jobs nationwide. Conviction could bring up to five years in prison and a 1 000 fine.
