Logan Seaman Aids In Recovery Of U S Astronauts
Quartermaster Seaman Apprentice LeRoy P Bunthoff USN son of Mrs Reva Smith of 541 E Second St participated in the recovery of Gemini astronauts and their capsule March 23 while serving aboard the anti submarine warfare support aircraft carrier USS Intrepid. The ship was one of 20 designated recovery vessels and pursued a path along the spacecraft track after three orbits. After recovery the astronauts and capsule the Intrepid resumed normal Atlantic Fleet duties.

Theodore C Johnson 79 of 165 N Walnut St died early this morning at his Ft Lauderdale winter home likely from a heart attack. He retired 20 years ago after running the Westinghouse agency in Logan 1931 to 1945 and the Theo C Johnson Co roofing business. He was born in Columbus and moved to Logan in 1908. He and Alma H Spohn Johnson marked their 58th wedding anniversary January 17. Survived by wife three sons Kenneth Carl Johnson of Logan Robert of Ft Lauderdale two daughters Dorothy Cheshier Ft Lauderdale Helen Dunnick Tipp City 19 grandchildren seven great grandchildren two sisters Esther Harlor Columbus Kate Matthews Long Beach CA. a son Richard died earlier. Funeral arrangements by Leonard Funeral Home incomplete. Contributions to the new Hocking County hospital requested in lieu of flowers.
