Fire Destroys Home Near New Plymouth
A two story frame house on Cherry Ridge Rd about a mile north of New Plymouth burned Sunday afternoon. Mrs Rutherton and her three children aged eight to 13 were occupants. Kenneth Clark of Columbus owned the building. Neighbors saved much of the family's belongings. Hocking Honor Camp men helped prevent spread to timber and brush. The family staying in Allensville.

Mrs. Clifford Courter Dies Unexpectedly
Mrs. Wavalene Woodard Courter aged 63, wife of Clifford Courter, died of a heart attack at her Union Furnace home after awakening her husband to take medicine. She was a Hocking County native, daughter of Ephraim and Leona Woodard. Surviving include a daughter Beulah Starr, a brother Rudolph Woodard, and two grandchildren. Funeral 2 p.m. Wednesday at Leonard Funeral Home with Rev. Carroll Chesser officiating. Burial Oak Grove Cemetery.

Four non injury auto accidents were reported in Hocking County over the weekend. The Athens post investigated three Saturday incidents in Hocking County while Lancaster checked one Saturday and two Sunday.
