Mine Cave-In Kills Minister in Ohio Quarry
The Rev. Virgil Lanning, 48, pastor of the Pilgrim Holiness Church, was killed in a strip-mine cave-in at a pit in Y Hollow near Murray City while working with his 15 year old son to dig coal for his home and church. He died of a fractured skull and internal injuries. He is survived by his wife, ten children, and his parents. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Pilgrim Holiness Church, Murray City, with burial at New Straitsville Cemetery.

Two Accidents Reported In Area Saturday
Robert Swaim aged 17 of Logan Rt. 4 was in a one car crash on Rt. 33 south of the Fairfield County line after losing control and hitting a guard rail then veering onto the right berm. In another collision at Second and Spring Streets two vehicles slid into the intersection on slippery pavement. Floyd P. Strawn 24 of 637 Zanesville Ave drove a White Tip cab, while Harry E. Campbell 26 of Logan Rt. 3 drove the other auto. Campbell’s car had a damaged left door panel and the cab remained undamaged.
