Mrs. Mary Bright 79, widow of Peter W. Bright, died after flames engulfed her while filling an oil lamp at her N East St. home. Neighbor Joe Robinson smothered the fire. she died at Cherrington Hospital after 4 p m Saturday and 4 05 a m Sunday. Explosion likely when she struck a match. Survived by sons James Rolland Charles Samuel and Joseph (died last June) and daughters Mael Rutter Maude Hite, plus half brothers Sylvester James Hockman John Hockman. Funeral Tuesday 1 30 p m at Leonard Funeral Home with Rev J W Plummer and Rev W H Long. Burial Oak Grove Cemetery.

After an all time high in 1937 of 39700 deaths safer driving in February produced a 16 percent reduction versus February 1936 and 20 percent less than January this year.

Arrest Man as Purse Snatcher
Harry Lohr age 23 formerly of Logan was arrested by Police Chief Lew Reynolds for a purse snatching on South Depot Street at 1 30 a m Saturday.
