Forecaster Sees Rain and Warmer Weather Ahead

Temperatures in Hocking County reached 54 by noon after a low of 18 last night. The five day forecast calls for above normal temperatures, averaging three to six degrees above the 49 and 32 normals. Carrier Joins Search For Missing Plane

More than 100 aircraft including 66 from the U S carrier Coral Sea scoured the Atlantic 600 miles off Ireland for a Globe master transport plane missing with 53 U S airmen aboard. Third Air Division headquarters said the carrier sent planes aloft but with no word of the missing aircraft, little hope remained for survivors. The Globe master vanished on a flight from Limestone, Maine to Mildenhall, England.

Winter Road Damage Set at 12 Millions

Ohio highways may suffer up to 12 million dollars in winter damage, state highway director T. J. Kauer said. He noted the figure has already climbed above 8 million and continues rising as frost and moisture worsen many sections beyond repair.

Mrs. Lawrence T Webb of South Logan remained in serious condition at Lancaster Fairfield Hospital from a Sunday Route 33 head on crash. Her husband Mr Webb was recovering satisfactorily. Neighbors Quench Fire in Rural Home on Pleasant Valley Road

A two story house owned by Mrs. Clarence Cox on Pleasant Valley road was saved from severe damage yesterday afternoon when about 15 neighbors carried water from a spring to battle a blaze starting in the upstairs. Mrs. Cox was in Logan visiting a child’s doctor. One room and contents were damaged. faulty wiring is suspected.

Hungry Lioness Interrupts Circus Party for Film Folk

A hungry lioness escaped her cage during a circus costume ball in Palm Springs on March 27. She chased cars and wandered near the desert kitchen before being corralled by singer Allan Jones, Renaldo Ferrari, and photographer Earl Tiesen with ropes and prods. Rudolf Hernandez, an elephant handler, quickly moved an elephant to block the lion outside the tent while trainers recaptured the animal.
