In Spain at Andujar on March 26, government troops with bombing planes struck insurgent lines, driving Franco's Italian-reinforced legions back about five miles from Pozoblanco outskirts. Under heavy bombing and machine gun fire the insurgents retreated along the Pozoblanco Alcaracejos highway. Government commanders called the retreat disorganized as rear-guard attacks continued.

Greater Floods Seen For Ohio River Valley

Indianapolis March 26 AP Meteorologist W C Devereaux of Cincinnati Ohio Valley Flood Expert warned of potential greater floods in the Ohio valley beyond January's record. He said a few days’ atmospheric delay after January 24 could have produced 82 feet or more, and with 1937 rainfall combined with other heavy precipitation a stage three or four feet higher may occur in the distant future. The January flood peaked at Cincinnati at 80 feet.

Ice blamed in Pittsburgh airliner crash at Allegheny County

Officials cite ice on control equipment as cause of Transcontinental and Western Airlines Silver Bird crash near Pittsburgh killing 13.
