A tornado swept across northwest Atlanta early today killing three and injuring scores as it damaged homes and the governor’s mansion. Gov. George Busbee reported his mansion heavily damaged but unharmed. emergency crews evacuated damaged buildings and searched for more victims amid widespread disruption and a rush hour toll.
Laurelville’s Nolan Swackhammer known as Swackie is selected as a 1974 Naismith Hall of Fame nominee for meritorious service to high school athletics. The Ohio board announced his nomination during the Ohio high school state tournament weekend at Ohio State.
President Ford convenes congressional leaders after Kissinger outlines a bleak Middle East outlook. Kissinger, back from a 16 day peace mission, reports no breakthrough as Israel and Egypt fail to agree on an Israeli surrender terms.
