A sniper killed Johnnie Mae Chappell a 36 year old Negro woman as she walked along U S 1 northwest of Jacksonville Florida. Four others were wounded in shootings amid a day of mass arrests and arson during racial demonstrations around the city.
About 30,000 Bolivians joined a mass march to the sea in La Paz led by President Victor Paz Estenssoro to press for a Pacific port. The landlocked nation seeks access from Chile, whose 1879 war seizure remains unresolved and has led to broken diplomatic ties.

Easter sunrise services sponsored by the combined Logan Masonic bodies will be held at 6 30 a m Sunday in the First United Presbyterian Church sanctuary. Clarence M Guess Logan Commandery eminent commander announces the event with Rev Robert W MecQuil kin delivering the message and the Presbyterian choir providing Easter music. The service will be broadcast over Radio Station WATH.
The Greek Turkish and British governments approve former Finnish Prime Minister Sakari S Tuomioja as United Nations mediator for Cyprus. U Thant needs consent from Greek and Turkish Cypriots before appointment and is expected to confirm him. The diplomat currently serves as Finland's ambassador to Sweden.
The Carborundum Co and Local 7630 OCAW resume negotiations at Logan Trade Club after a strike that began at 2:30 a.m. last Wednesday. Thirteen sessions failed to yield a contract before March 17. Company leaders Ehlers, Stuart, Johnson, and plant manager Dienst led talks as George Helber of Local 7630 urged real progress today.
