CIA Raised Soviet Submarine Recovery Viewed by Senate Leader

Senate Majority Leader Mike Mansfield said the CIA raised part of a Soviet nuclear submarine sunk in the Pacific. Officials say the operation recovered a section possibly containing coded materials. no missiles or codes were found. About 70 Soviet officers and sailors were recovered.

Heavy Rain and Flooding Hit Several Regions

A broad storm system brought heavy rain and flooding to sections of Ohio and the Southeast. High Court Denies Moore Tax Conviction Appeal

Former Logan attorney Forrest P. Moore, 49, was not granted a further appeal of his tax conviction. He was found guilty Feb 6 1974 on three counts of failing to file federal income tax returns for 1968 1969 and 1970 and was sentenced to three consecutive one year terms.
