Labor leaders in New York pushed for a general stoppage of all organized labor after a partial lockout in a building service strike. James Bambrick, president of the international building service union, warned of citywide action by 300,000 workers following the refusal to reinstate all building workers after arbitration.
Fire destroyed Father Charles E. Coughlin’s original Shrine of the Little Flower in Royal Oak Michigan. The newer half million dollar shrine remained intact. Father Coughlin and firefighters blamed faulty wiring for the blaze and estimated losses at about 30000 dollars.
Piqua Ohio March 17 AP a 12 year old boy and two youths admitted in juvenile court to burglarizing four local stores. Officers found stolen merchandise in a hotel room after questioning the trio.
An early morning raid freed seven men and three women from an upper west side apartment. Police recovered a miniature arsenal and linked the arrests to the $427,000 armored truck hold up. One suspect, William O Bri en, 26, matched fingerprints on a police wanted card.
Secretary Wallace announces a five region reorganization of the AAA to run the new soil conservation farm program. The move aligns with passage of a large supply bill granting funds for farm operations and pre payment of the bonus. Guy Brown and his three sons freed their pet pony Fannie from a family mine in Louis Hollow Crooksville Ohio after a cave-in trap kept the animal for weeks. They spent a night digging a tunnel through 20 feet of coal to reach the five year old creature and brought her to safety where she rests beside the kitchen.
Dr. John F. Condon returning from Panama says he will discuss the Lindbergh case with Gov. Hoffman of New Jersey but declines to comment on Hauptmann. Hauptmann’s fate looms with a March 30 deadline for execution.
The last petition left six candidates for the Court of Appeals bench in the southern Ohio appellate district. The Democratic nomination will go to W. T. Jones of McArthur who will be unopposed in the primary. Republican candidates include Judge Harley M. Whitcraft of Logan, William R. White of Gallipolis, Roy Gillen of Jackson, Frank Delay of Jackson, Wilder H. Middleton of Waverly, and the retiring judge’s son.
The body of Thomas Stafford of East Liverpool was sought in the Ohio river near Stratton after the car he rode in with three companions plunged into the stream during a running gun battle with police.
George Lindsey aged 19 and Herbert Tonas aged 20 were found in their jail cells after an escape attempt from a window at an adjacent overall factory. A factory employee reported the attempt to the sheriff’s office, thwarting the plan.
The late Prince Serge Mdivani died when a polo pony kicked him at Delray Beach Florida. The image also shows his widow Louise Astor Van Alen. Serge had multiple marriages including Pola Negri and Mary McCormic. His brother Alexis was killed in a Spain auto crash after Barbara Hutton divorced him.

Pilot Maurice Marrs brought nine passengers into Cleveland airport by car, after landing a twin-motored transport in a cornfield sixty miles west during a blinding snowstorm. None injured. Passenger Philip A. Vogelmann of New York praised Marrs for a perfect flare landing as visibility failed at the airport.

Mrs May Adams aged 53 formerly of Sugar Grove died Saturday at the home of her daughter Mrs Belle Wilson in Columbus. Funeral services will be at Sugar Grove Methodist with Rev L C Yocum and R B Shaver officiating. Burial will be in the Stuckney cemetery.
