U S Planes Hit Phu Qui Depot Near Hanoi

More than 100 U.S. Air Force and Navy planes struck the Phu Qui ammunition depot 100 miles south of Hanoi. Officials called it a damaging raid, with 30 storage buildings hit and one Navy plane lost to unknown causes. Additional Vietnamese and allied strikes reported, with several captures and incidents surrounding the ongoing air war.

China says Soviet under US control after Moscow embassy clash

In a Peking Daily editorial the Chinese say the Soviet government is under U.S. imperialism after clashes involving Chinese and North Vietnamese students at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow on March 4. Four students were injured, two carried from the plane for treatment in Beijing.

Wallace vows to obey court on Selma march if allowed

Alabama Governor George Wallace said he would permit a Selma to Montgomery march if a federal court orders it, but warned demonstrations are getting out of hand. He cited last week's riotlike action by state troopers and urged peaceful conduct while stressing education and voting rights initiatives.

Two Drivers Cited After Union Furnace Crash

A two car crash at Union Furnace on Rt 328 at 3 p.m. Saturday left Gary Lee Cox 18 cited for conditional speed and Gladys Mae Bennington 64 cited for failure to yield. Cox vehicle rolled over and both cars sustained heavy to moderate damage. Cox injured but not treated. both to appear in county court Saturday. Three additional minor city accidents were reported including a hit and run.

Khrushchev Appears in Moscow After Ouster

Nikita Khrushchev resurfaced in Moscow with small crowds and security present, voting in local elections near the Kremlin. The ex leader appeared fit and cheerful, replying that he felt “like a pensioner not bad” as he paused outside his apartment house and then voted unopposed in a one party ballot.

Johnson to outline voting rights bill at joint session

President Johnson will address a joint session of Congress at 9 p.m. EST to push a voting rights bill and other measures. The White House announced the invitation and plan, as civil rights groups rally near the White House and Selma protesters demand federal intervention. Johnson met with Alabama Governor George Wallace to discuss Negro citizens denied the right to register and participate in governance.

Burglary Report At West End Residence

City police investigate a West End residence burglary reported by Noel Dyer of 1264 Third Street. Entry occurred between Wednesday and Sunday. garage basement door unlocked and items missing include two tires an electric sander a gallon of oil and a gallon of antifreeze. Entry was gained without force.

Thousands In Ohio Pay Tribute To Slain Clerk

Ohioans joined a nationwide tribute for Rev. James J. Reed, killed in Selma, Alabama. A 4500-strong Columbus march to the post office and a 1200-car motorcade highlighted demonstrations across the state with 2500 in Springfield and smaller gatherings in Middletown, Youngstown, and Yellow Springs. No incidents reported.
