Ohio approves 10 percent state employee pay raises

State personnel Director Paul Corey said final Pay Board written notice allows retroactive raises to March 5 with pay increases reflected from March 31. The General Assembly had granted a 10 percent boost retroactive to December 26, 1971, with Gov. Gilligan selecting the March 5 full 10 percent option after Pay Board discussions.

Ohio Supreme Court Backs Tax Repeal Effort

The Ohio Supreme Court ordered Attorney General William Brown to approve circulation of lawmakers petitions to place an income tax repeal on the ballot by March 22 or explain otherwise. Franklin County Judge Clifford Rader extended an order delaying action for 14 days. If approved, 318 414 signatures are due by August to qualify for the ballot. Rep. Joseph Tulley expressed continued confidence.
