Paris reports millions of workers halted by a 24hour strike pressing for higher wages. Power outages and disrupted transit spread chaos as offices, media, and mail faced interruptions while some air and rail travel continued.
Space Center Houston reports a fading Atlantic storm as Apollo 9 astronauts McDivitt Scott Schweickart Roosa test the command ship aboard a calm recovery area. Forecast winds 15 knots and seas four to five feet meet limits for a 10 day moon mission test. Splashdown planned at 10 24 a m EST aboard the carrier Guadalcanal. Apollo 10 rollout to launch pad begins for mid May liftoff to test Lunar Module rendezvous within 50 000 feet of the moon.
Albert Klinger starts today as 4 H assistant in the county extension office at Logan Rt 2. A 1968 Logan High School graduate, he attends Ohio University Lancaster branch majoring in elementary education. He has 10 years in 4 H club work and will assist with advisors clubs and Junior Leadership activities.

Divers hunted the Ohio River at Marietta for Roger Howdyshell 29 son of Dewey and family at 346 Ff Hunter St believed to have drowned after swimming in the river early Saturday morning. Relatives and police noted he swam farther as friend C J Dye alerted authorities but no trace was found by weekend dragging efforts.
United States officers report heavy clashes northwest of Saigon as Viet Cong shell 60 allied bases and towns including Hue. The clash marks a new phase in the spring offensive begun February 23, with U S casualties reported at five dead and twenty wounded. North Vietnamese divisions mass near the capital while regional forces move toward Saigon.
The New York market advanced with the Dow Jones at 924.17 at noon, up 7.05 as the rally continued from Monday. Winners led 866 to 335 over losses at the NYSE amid active trading.

State crews, county crews, and city trucks worked through the night to salt and treat roads. by noon the conditions were mostly wet but in good condition. A high of 23 was reported at noon, with 37 on Monday. Clearing and colder weather is forecast tonight with warmer, fair conditions expected Wednesday.
