Flood events cut water pressure citywide with two main breaks shutting the supply. Mount St Mary Hospital received a 1000 gallon tank as Red Cross aid and officials urged boiling water. Evacuations and church aid followed as river levels slowly fell.

Hurt Jr is named plant manager at the Logan Goodyear Tire plant effective April 1 replacing John H Gerstenmaier who becomes president of Motor Wheel Corporation in Lansing Michigan Gerstenmaier has 26 years at Goodyear Hurt 42 has been chief engineer at Logan since September and formerly led Goodyear interior trim and chemical plants engineering He graduates from the University of Colorado and holds professional engineering society memberships He resides in Logan with his wife and two sons while Gerstenmaier remains Akron based until spending more time at Logan An announcement of a new Logan chief engineer will follow.
Dallas dispatch reports defense attorney Melvin Belli rested the case in Jack Ruby’s murder trial after Dr Manfred Guttmacher testified Ruby was not legally sane. The jury heard closing direct testimony with possible rebuttal witnesses pending from both sides before final arguments.
Henry Cabot Lodge won the New Hampshire Republican primary as a write in with all 14 delegates. Goldwater Rockefeller Nixon Smith and Stassen trailed. Lodge said he would not resign as U S ambassador to South Vietnam. Lodge captured 34 percent of the vote and 33 521 votes. The result challenges the Nixon Goldwater Rockefeller contender lineup.
Ohio Youth Commission chair Wayne Fogle reports a 50 day youth camp near Shawnee Forest in Scioto County is being planned as part of moves to relieve crowding at Lancaster Boys Industrial School. The plan awaits Gov Rhodes conference and aligns with expanding camps in Zaleski Mohican and H F Christiansen at the State Fairgrounds.
Federal aid and technical assistance are approved for the Rush Creek watershed project spanning Hocking, Fairfield and Perry counties. The plan includes 18 floodwater retardation structures, five reservoirs, 22 miles of channel work, and a 3.6 mile Bremen levee at an estimated $5.67 million with about $3.88 million from the federal government. The effort follows local meetings beginning November 1955 and aims to reduce floods while providing water and conservation benefits.
A severe flood halted power across severalLogan city sections for seven hours affecting 1200 customers. The East Logan substation near Graham's Market damaged the 12 kV circuit by high waters, cutting power from 7 38 p m to 2 35 a m. Lancaster Newark crews aided Logan in temporary bypass work using boats due to flooding.
Four travelers from Virginia Florida and Ohio lost their ride when a flood blocked further travel near Hocking Valley. Driver Jack Rudisell and residents arranged shelter at Ambrose Hotel in Logan. The group praised local hospitality and waited for floodwaters to ease as their bus remained idle outside the station.
Ohio floodwaters recede slowly as hundreds evacuate homes. The Hocking River in Athens is forecast to crest at 24 feet, higher than last year's flood, while Scioto and Piketon crests loom. Red Cross and Civil Defense aid shelters, with dozens of roads closed and two dormitories evacuated at Ohio University.
The Hocking River crested Tuesday near the 1907 flood level, receding today at over two inches per hour. Damage assessment continues with closures on county roads and evacuation aid ongoing.
