Man Dies in Fire From Blowtorch Accident
In Zanesville Ohio on March 10 a 19 year old, James W. Stiles, was fatally burned when kerosene from a blowtorch ignited his clothing. The fire spread to a shed at Ohio Ferro Alloys Corp in Philo, then a loading platform, an oil tank exploded, two freight cars burned, and a large building was destroyed, with Stiles dying hours later from his burns.

Hotel Fire Kills Railroad Fireman in Columbus
In Columbus Ohio early today a fire killed 35 year old railroad fireman Robert H Carpenter. He was found clutching a telephone in his third floor apartment at the Frances Apartment Hotel near Union Depot. Fire Chief Clarence Ogborn said the blaze likely started from a cigarette in Carpenter's room. The fire confined to the third floor but water damaged the second floor. The hotel has 38 stables and 28 transient rooms.
