In a recessed session the City Council authorized notes and bonds for WPA paving of Elm and Furnace Streets from Hunter to Third. The project is to be financed in anticipation of a property levy of 10 329 dollars. Brick paving planned. An extra 175 dollars was approved for street markers bringing the marker fund to 675 dollars. Markers cost 500 dollars plus 175 dollars labor. 143 intersections will receive metal signs on 8 foot posts. A salary amendment granted 5 dollars monthly raise for Water Clerk Garnet Sheets, replacing a 25 raise. The salary director will get 30 dollars yearly, the clerk of Council 96, and vacations with pay for city vote at the next meeting. Budget adjustments include 50 dollars for insurance of the new filtration plant, with coverage up to 20 000 dollars at 110 dollars for five years. Oscar Seward stood in for President pro tem in the absence of Stanley Baker.

Windle Charged With Copper Wire Theft At Nelsonville Mine
A charge of stealing copper wire valued at 900 dollars from the C. G. Dew mine in Nelsonville was filed today in Hocking County against Eugene Windle of Sugar Creek. Windle had been widely sought in Southeastern Ohio after escaping officers at Pomeroy weeks ago. Windle’s son William was captured and returned to the Kentucky penitentiary.

House Disputes Tax Measures
