The Ohio Senate backs a House passed bill to provide 4,000,000 immediately for state institutions to care for 2,000 more wards. Apple Creek Feeble Minded, Tiffin, Hawthornden, Longview and other facilities receive designated sums, with approval contingent on Gov. Lausche signing.
Wheat firm with late rally. corn active on late rally. oats steady following leaders. Other grains steady to higher with oats showing gains. Hog futures steady to 25 cents up with top around 22.00, cattle steady to 25 cents higher near 29.00. Stocks mixed as rails improve on narrow bond market.
Three men linked to 12 holdups across nine cities were arrested at a roadblock. Frank J Czernewski Walter R A Maley and Edward J Mischler face charges including armed robbery and concealed weapons with bonds set at 60000 each. Victims identified multiple invasions dating from 1947 to 1949 in Columbus Johnstown Marysville Hamilton Middletown Norwood Urbana Dayton and Wapak area.
Washington March 9 The House agriculture committee voted 24 to 3 to remove all federal taxes from oleomargarine and to ban colored oleo in interstate commerce. The panel also defeated 14 to 13 a plan to allow interstate sale but require explicit menu notices.
Cleveland March 9 4 A catalogue of 12000 musical compositions by American negroes or inspired by them has been compiled by Mrs Clayborne George the wife of a former Cleveland councilman.
Mr and Mrs Charles Scott were evicted after a long dispute with landlady Mrs William Griffin over bathing rights and rent. A rent reduction was rejected and magistrate Sue Lakeman previously ruled for Griffin. The Scotts’ furniture was moved to the street and quickly removed by truck.
Mrs. Mary B. Skivers, 62, wife of W. W. Skivers, died at 3 05 A M today at 631 Motherwell Avenue after a seven month illness. A Ripley W V native, she resided in Logan 42 years. Survived by two former marriage sons Walter Bowen Logan and Edgar T Bowen Rochester N Y, two grandchildren, four brothers Harry Russell Glenn John Freeman of Hocking County, three sisters Mrs Julia Sheets Logan Route 4 Mrs Maggie Sayre Ripley W V and Mrs Beulah Myers Logan Route 1. Mrs Helen Jones has been named clerk of the municipal court in Zanesville Ohio. She succeeds Ed Green who resigned from the position on March 9.

Knox County detective James Lippert reported the capture of three teenage escapees from the Ohio State Industrial School near Lancaster Ohio in Knoxville Tennessee. The youths were identified as Robert Roland 17 Eugene Smith 16 and Ben Staley 18. Lippert said they walked away from the school farm Monday and were picked up on suspicion. Officers found the youths' industrial school jackets in a car they were in.
Mrs Monette Burns a 40 year old former model pleaded innocent at arraignment on a murder charge in Towson Maryland. Her husband was reportedly killed last Sunday morning and a trial was tentatively set for April 11. She formerly lived in Athens Ohio.
Flood waters left hundreds homeless across Nebraska Iowa Montana and Louisiana as the Missouri River and its tributaries rose. Beatrice evacuated nearly 100 families as the Big Blue River overflowed and schools closed in a city of 11 000. Crete Seward O Neill and Albion faced flood impacts and impassable roads.
At Forest Lawn Cemetery in Glendale California a small funeral service was held for radio millionaire and philanthropist Atwater Kent who died Friday at age 75. An estimated two hundred attendees—far fewer than the crowd at his Bel Air parties—attended the funeral.

Clarence H. Zipfel, 65, who served six terms as mayor of Monroeville, died yesterday in Norwalk. Zipfel led the town for years and was a prominent local figure.
