A 12 jurors acquitted Thomas Lloyd after a day-long trial in which Dr. Roger Grueser Logan veterinarian testified the six horses died from malnutrition caused by heavy worm infestations. He said worms consume the horses nourishment, leading to starvation and low blood sugar.
A Liquor Department list of active gambling venues prompted enforcement measures across Ohio. Liquor Director Richard C. Crouch and Chief Ivan W. Smith reported replies from sheriffs, chiefs, prosecutors and mayors, most supporting the mailing as part of Gov. DiSalle's gambling cleanup. Several officials sought help. one complained that newspaper publicity hindered investigations.
Logan High School students take over city administration at 1 p.m. for Student Government Day. Mayor Francis E. Myers proclaims the day and student officials including Butch Kuhn as mayor and Mickey Frazier as city service director sit with adult council members to address city problems.
