Army Sergeant Held For Threats

Cleveland police and FBI arrested Army Sergeant M. Roney in Cuyahoga Falls on Feb. 2 warrant. He allegedly threatened three friends of his estranged wife in a letter if she did not accept his divorce terms. He was held in Cuyahoga County jail after an unplanned visit to the home. A roomer was allegedly forced with a pistol to compel the wife’s return.

Barmaid fatally shoots man in Cleveland tavern

Cleveland police report Ezio Hudsteth, 22, a barmaid, shot James Fleming, 22, in an east side tavern last night as he allegedly climbed over the bar. The death is under investigation and the motive remains unclear.

March Storms Sweep Across the Nation

Early March storms clashed with cold air, bringing floods and frost across the Midwest and Northeast. Probers Back In Action As Kiwanis Lose 29-14

The LHS faculty cagers defeated the Kiwanis Club 29-14 before a good crowd in the LHS auditorium. Kiwanis used a platoon system. coach Mac Watson faced referees for tactics and a white-shirted impostor was briefly sent in. Lee O’Brien led the faculty with six points, followed by Robert Morris with five. Alfred Carpenter scored eight for Kiwanis. In the preliminary, Bob Rainier led Hi-to with 15 points in a 33-26 win over the Loafers.

Athens to file charges against parole violator Frank Oiler

Athens officials say they will charge Frank Oiler 32 in Municipal Court on Monday. Oiler admitted firing at Chauncey Walker after Walker found him asleep in a stolen car, police report shows. Walker is a sheriff’s target in the case tied to a Moundsville penitentiary parole violation.
