Logan Braves Fall Short in Class A Tourney Tilt

Logan High School lost to Chillicothe 58 to 42 in the Class A district at Athens. Logan trailed by one at half and stayed competitive through three quarters, as finalists John Shaw and Dick Smith led Logan with 13 points each while Larry Stevens sustained Chillicothe with 18. It was the seniors final game for Logan as Murtha Buckles and Smith bowed out.

Weather officials say the storm was worsened by wind as snow redeposited on the east side of Cleveland. The Memorial Shoreway N.E. saw the worst traffic jam with trucks and cars stalled for over 11 hours and passengers enduring 12 hours on buses while trying to reach downtown from Euclid.

A Mansfield jury finds Maxwell Sternbaum not guilty of first degree murder in the December 4 1952 slaying of his wife Leah Sternbaum age 31. After nearly four weeks of testimony and a day of deliberation the verdict was delivered at 1115 p m. The prosecution alleged he killed Leah with a wrench and burned the supermarket office to cover the crime. Sternbaum testified burglars attacked them as she visited to drive him home.
