A first degree murder warrant charges rural landlady Mrs Marguerite Zwayer with poisoning Groveport farmer Sheldon Grube. Justice of the peace Edward E Herderick issued the warrant naming Grubes’s mother Mrs Cloe Grube as signer. Preliminary hearing set for Friday. coroner had noted death unknown at time.
Alliance, Ohio, faces renewed pressure from the state liquor department the Junior Chamber of Commerce and Mount Union College as investigations target bootlegging gambling and prostitution. New appointees replace a Canton district agent and officials blame local enforcement for decades of lax controls amid a campus community urging swift action.
The Ohio Fuel Gas Co. announced approval of 15,351 additional gas heat applications, bringing total approvals since January 1 to 22,601. The figure includes 14,585 for homes and 766 for commercial buildings.

Washington reports a government order easing installment credit on items from cook stoves to automobiles. The Fed reduces down payments to 15 percent for most items and 21 months to pay, autos kept at one third. Auto industry sees relief though Kaiser Frazer and Rep. Patman urge more easing. Order effective Monday following January drop in outstanding installment credit.
Reserved seats for the next Wednesday and Thursday night Izaak Walton minstrel performances go on sale at 4 30 P M Friday at Risch Pharmacy A spokesman for the league said. The minstrel will have one matinee and three evening performances. The matinee Thursday is for school children. Seats for the final evening performance next Friday will not be reserved.
Raymond L. Grambo and Jack D. Fleming of Columbus were acquitted by a county court jury of robbery charges. They were alleged to be the bantam car bandits who terrorized a suburban Beverly surgeon and his wife on December 6.
Preston Gentry, 33, jailed on non support charges, won an $8000 damage suit against the Cleveland Transit System. He alleged he was knocked from a truck by a street car. He faces charges from his estranged wife on Tuesday for abandonment of her and two sons.
Gambier Ohio March 3 Some human remains were found yesterday in the ashes of a Kenyon College dormitory razed by fire Sunday. The remains totaled 35 to 40 bone fragments and teeth. They are the first trace of six students missing in the blaze. President Gordon K Chalmers said identification will await formal approval of relatives of the six youths. Nine students died and 25 were injured when the dormitory burned.
Stay at home fans with FM receivers may tune in on the Logan Marietta game at the Class A tournament tonight in Athens. Station WPAY FM 104.1 will broadcast the Athens games and Class B tournament games at Waverly. Three Portsmouth schools are sending teams to the tournament.
Kent Ohio data shows employment in 12 major industries down 1400 from a year earlier. Factories report reduced output and layoffs as industry activity slows in early March.

In Lancaster Ohio two men, former policeman Hubert Jeffers and restaurant cook William Starrett, pleaded not guilty to receiving stolen meat from Swift and Co. in Columbus. Jeffers, 38, was arraigned on charges of receiving and concealing meat. Starrett faced two counts of purchasing stolen meat. Jeffers posted bond but was jailed on a separate mortgaged property charge. Starrett posted bond and was released.
In Lakewood, a frame house north of Muskegon, a stove explosion started a blaze that killed mother Maude Clover 46, eight children ages 3 to 15, and roomer August Taskey. Firemen and deputies recovered all bodies.
In a sudden storm at Mirs Bay Hong Kong seventy people are reported drowned after fifty fishing junks were swamped. Rescue efforts were underway and authorities began inquiries into the disaster.
A man rode a San Francisco Municipal Railway bus on a railroad flat car from Kent Ohio to San Francisco and slept on folded rear seats. Officials estimate a $25 fare and meals bill but the rider vanished without paying.
A single rifle shot killed 17 year old Alvin Hoppe of Everett while running a dog in a field. He fell on his rifle and died. A coroner's jury ruled the death accidental.
The House banking committee voted 23 to two to extend rent controls for 15 months, rejecting an administration request for 24 months. The panel also declined fines up to 5000 dollars and one year imprisonment for willful violations, and rejected a Brown amendment on ceilings tied to fair value. The full bill moves to the House for a vote.
A 46-year-old Logan laborer George H Wallace was found hanged by a belt in a city jail cell after being arrested for intoxication and disorderly conduct. Acting coroner Dr. C F Shank ruled death by his own action. Wallace leaves a wife Hilda and many children, with funeral plans pending.
