A Logan tremor at about 10 am shook homes and rattled windows across Ohio. Reports say the quake was slight statewide with the Hocking County Court House top floor most evident. Sheriff Farbearn and Deputy Spencer briefly wondered if someone was moving chairs.

Edward R. Lumpkin of Miamisburg was killed in a truck collision near Painesville when he swerved to avoid an accident and drove into a gasoline service station yard. His trailer was struck on the highway by another truck operated by C. C. Klingenberger of Indianapolis.
Harry L. Gosney, 33, of Columbiana County, was named Ohio’s youngest sheriff by the Buckeye Sheriffs’ Association. He heads the state’s oldest jail, nearly a century old, in Lisbon.

Riverside Calif March 2 AP District Attorney Earl Redwine says he is proceeding on the theory there is a strong possibility of murder in the shooting of screenwriter Humphrey Pearson. Sheriff Carl Rayburn supports the accidental shooting theory noting Pearson’s house has unusually thick walls to insulate against desert heat. A deputy stood in the room where a butler said Pearson was shot and the officer could not hear test shots fired in the bedroom.
In Guanajato and Mexico states, strong detachments of federal troops moved to quell two armed uprisings, leaving about 30 dead. The deployments represent a harsh escalation in internal security actions across central Mexico during March.
