Famed G Man Purvis Dies By Own Hand
Melvin Purvis a 56 year old former FBI agent died by suicide at his Florence home after a period of ill health and low spirits. He led agents who killed John Dillinger and Pretty Boy Floyd in the 1930s and later owned radio station WOLS.
