A small tornado struck Centerburg at 4 20 p m causing extensive property damage in the downtown area. No injuries were reported. The storm toppled the Burrer Mill grain elevator roof and damaged the Burrer building along with the Knights of Pythias hall and a pool hall barber shop and residence. Fire Chief Robert Whited described the slender twister as it crossed two blocks and moved northeast.
