Deborah M. Rider, 21, of 618 North Broad Street Lancaster died at 3 04 a m today at University Hospital Columbus from injuries suffered in a one car crash a week earlier.

Ohio Supreme Court Orders Show Cause To Tax Board

The Ohio Supreme Court ordered the state Board of Tax Appeals to show cause why it should not equalize real estate assessments. The board has until June 11 to answer after a December order to level at about 40 percent of true value, delayed by a 1972 emergency measure. Hartshorn Sentenced To Ohio Pen

Robert Hartshorn, 40, of Lancaster Route 2, was sentenced to an indeterminate term in the Ohio Penitentiary by Common Pleas Judge Harley Meyer for probation violations. He had been found guilty of drunken driving in Hocking County Court on May 14, violating probation set by Judge Meyer after pleading guilty to assault with a dangerous weapon. He allegedly held his former wife Siminia at gunpoint while eluding arrest on two charges on June 10, 1967.

Surtax In Trouble Says GOP Tax Expert

Washington AP The chief Republican tax expert in the House Rep John W Byrnes says President Nixons proposal to extend the income surcharge is in trouble and Democrats are to blame. He argues it would be foolish to drop the surtax now as inflation measures may succeed. Byrnes notes Nixon seeks to keep the surcharge at 10 percent through December 31 then 5 percent for six months.

Ohio ordered cease and desist against Koscot Interplanetary Inc of Winter Park Florida and four Ohio reps including James Pack George Errington and William J Burton. Officials say Koscot’s distributorship and directorships fall under securities laws and that sales meetings cost investors up to 4500 dollars for director levels with commissions and overrides. Brown cites statewide activity and unregistered sales across Ohio and in neighboring states.
