Eight Peddlers Sought In Abduction Of Wealthy Cuban
Eight mango peddlers sought after the abduction of Antonio San Miguel a 78 year old Cuban millionaire former senator and newspaper publisher. San Miguel his bodyguard and two aides were seized by men posing as peddlers aided by accomplices in a mango wagon. Police and soldiers hunted across Havana with no word on a ransom as witnesses described the capture and choked victims.

Motorist Fled After Route 31 Crash North of Logan
A fatal crash early today on Route 31 two miles north of Logan involved Bob Peacock of Murray City and Joe Frye of Columbus. One victim Ray Erwin, 48, Columbus, died instantly. Tacoma reports discovery of a second ransom bill used in the George Weyerhauser kidnap plot. A man was detained for questioning at a Seattle hotel, with federal agents following standard noncomment procedures. Erwin Strum and Wolfe were passengers in a car driven by Peacock en route to Columbus. In the crash with a southbound unknown driver, the truck carrying Brooks and Frye overturned pinning Brooks. Frye was unhurt. Brooks is in critical condition.

Funeral hearse damaged after fatal Logan accident
A funeral car owned by Hein ie Bros was slightly damaged when the hearse driven by Harold Evans collided with Ed Ralph’s auto near the McCarthy farm north of Logan.
