Fluoridation Bill Faces Senate Vote in Ohio

In Columbus Ohio AP the fluoridation measure backed by Sen Oakley C Collins R 18 Ironton shows about 19 votes with two maybes needing 17 for passage. Also up for Senate action is a riot control bill and related measures on convict trials and parent liability for property damages in campus disorders.

Charles Florida Memorial Rites Set For June 11

Memorial services for Charles Florida. 55, formerly of Gibisonville, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday June 11 at Mt. Olive United Methodist Church Gibisonville. He died May 10 in Idstein Germany after a heart attack. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery after cremation. He served in the U S Army in World War II and was wounded there. His uncle Bishop Charles Brashares of Ann Arbor Michigan will conduct the services. A sister Ruth Lutz of Darien Connecticut survives.

Leak At City Pool Undergoing Repairs in Logan

City officials report a break in a recirculation line at the Logan pool just outside the south wall at the six foot level is being repaired. Work is to be completed today and the pool will reopen this Saturday for the remainder of the summer. Curbs on Walnut Street north of Hunter Street are being repaired in preparation for resurfacing operations.

House State Government Committee recommended passage 11 to 7 for a measure allowing Sunday liquor sales. The hearing drew packed rooms with both sides testifying as Columbus Mayor opposed the bill. Cincinnati proponents argued it would boost convention trade while Toledo Mayor urged local control.
