Census Bureau finds Ohio and other states show rising city payrolls in 1947. In 10 000 to 25 000 population cities payrolls totaled 16 500 000 while employment reached 96 000. Cleveland Cincinnati Columbus and Toledo reported higher payrolls and gains with overall national payrolls up 15 percent. Average monthly earnings rose from 178 to 197 dollars per worker.

Athens Man Bound Over In Purse Snatching Case
Ralph Stephenson of Athens was bound over to the Hocking County grand jury on a $300 bond after pleading guilty to an unarmed robbery charge before Mayor Roger W. Friend. He allegedly snatched a purse containing $1.27 from Pauline Watkins of Logan on North Mulberry Street Friday night. The purse was later found discarded in an alley between Second and Main Streets. Stephenson was arrested by police shortly after the incident.
