Early morning witnesses spotted three elephants with heads and trunks protruding from trucks on Main Street. The elephants were part of the Park Brothers Circus and had performed in Athens yesterday and were en route to a northern location today.
Ed Staff notes James R. Smoot on Mound street grows remarkably tall tomato plants with heavy fruit causing several plants to topple. Smoot advises tying to stakes with rags rather than binder twine to prevent stalk damage.

James Moughlin of Columbus, a 43 year old exconvict, was questioned Tuesday about a June 8 shooting in which A. D. Stevenson wounded him twice. McLaughlin had prior federal and local confinement and has narcotics offense history. Stevenson has visited Logan frequently.

Mrs Sadie M Thomas 95 founder of the cradle roll listing for infant Sunday School members died last night in Westchester Pennsylvania. She helped compile and maintain church records recognizing young members. Her work spanned decades and earned local church honors.
Kiwanis Club board approved plans for a 20 by 30 foot shelter at Kiwanis Playground at Orchard and Culver streets. Paschal Tignor of the WPA staff will supervise the brick and log structure with brick walls forming retaining sections near the hill.

President Roosevelt nominated Assistant Secretary of State Francis B. Sayre to be high commissioner to the Philippine Islands to succeed Paul V. McNutt, who resigned to lead the Federal Security Administration. The nomination was sent to the Senate.
