Court OKs Fifth Annual Report of Hocking Conservancy District
The Hocking Conservancy Court in Athens approved the district’s fifth annual report. The body reappointed Clarence Matheny to the board of appraisers after J Russell Young’s death and reported on the Athens flood protection project, Logan Reservoir, and proposed works in Rockbridge, Logan, and Nelsonville. Receipts for 1968 totaled 252 257.81 with expenses 196 547.12 leaving 55 710.69 on Dec 31 1968. Funds came from a .3 mill levy state advances and bank loans now repaid. Beginning September all costs for the official plan are paid from the improvement fund for the Athens project. Assessments will total about 3 400 000 to cover non federal costs. one year notes were sold to The Ohio Company. R V Oakley was re elected president with Robert S Mathews as vice president. Ralph L Poston serves as third board member and Don R Johnson as executive secretary.
