Covered Span Is Dynamited Friday Night
The historic covered bridge on State Route 180 half a mile north of Adelphi was damaged by a dynamite blast last night. A fuse fragment was found later. Farmer J Edmiston of Kinnikinnick narrowly escaped injury after detecting a peculiar odor while driving over the bridge at 11 P M and stopping in the center. The Pickaway County sheriff’s office said investigators are questioning several suspects in connection with the dynamiting.

Bridge over Salt Creek damaged by explosion
A long span bridge over Salt Creek was partly damaged by an explosion as a driver left the bridge after an investigation found nothing. Holes appeared in the top and side and two supports were damaged, with traffic only partly stopped. Clyde Wells noted locals called it a traffic hazard. The bridge dates from after the Civil War.
