Logan faces a three week water shortage after Councilman Vernon Mauk blocked an emergency move to buy chlorination equipment. Bid offers ranged from 705 to 750 dollars, with final approval pushed to three readings once Councilman Meldrim returns from Canada.
James Mills, 64, of South Bloomingville, was found not guilty by Judge W M McKenzie of possessing intoxicating liquor after state officers found three buried barrels near his home. The defense argued the state failed to prove ownership beyond a reasonable doubt.
Sandusky deputies prepared to obtain a first degree murder warrant against Joseph Perryman for the July 14 slaying of his wife, Margaret. Mrs. B C McManigal died at her South Culver Street home at 12 20 pm after weeks of ill health from uremic poisoning. Survived by three daughters Miss Jessie McManigal Mrs John Wellman of Logan and Mrs Charles Hoffhines of Columbus and son Ben of Pasadena California. Funeral arrangements by Woodard Funeral Service. She was a prominent member of the First Presbyterian Church of Logan and sister of the late Ned Work.
Columbus July 23 AP Gov Cavey signed the new 6 5 million relief measure and reappointed the relief commission amid calls for county and city funding shifts. Lawmakers criticized the bill as wasteful while Democratic critics argued rural areas get no proportional share. The governor warned that funds may inadequately reach the neediest as counties seek extra support under the Carey act.
At the Quarterly Conference of the First United Brethren Church D. M. Heft was elected delegate and Edward Hockman alternate to the Southeast Ohio Annual Conference to be held at Otterbein College Church in Westerville Ohio the first week in August. D. M. Heft and Walter Reasoner were re elected trustees for five year terms. The District Superintendent and pastor of First Church presided.
