Watergate figure LaRue links Mitchell and Dean to grand cover up scheme
Former Nixon aide Frederick C. LaRue testified before the Senate Watergate committee that John N. Mitchell and John W. Dean III were aware of a grand cover up to hide Watergate wiretapping. He said Mitchell knew a $75,000 payment was part of the cover up and that Dean helped direct earlier payments. LaRue also said Dean refused to authorize the final payment and suggested consulting Mitchell.

MARION Ohio AP More telephone outages and dialing problems were reported today by the General Telephone Co of Ohio as a strike by 2800 employees entered its fourth day. At Athens four supervisors were evacuated from a repair dispatching center after stones were hurled at the building. Athens County sheriff deputies escorted the group from the scene.
