Randy Herron 18 of 330 Elm St was admitted to Mount St Mary Hospital for injuries after he fell from the side of a moving car on Rt 56 near Rt 374 at 7 45 p m. He was among four youths pushing a car driven by James Kelch 17 of 390 North St when he jumped on the side as the vehicle started. The accident remains under investigation. Two other one car incidents were reported. Jo Ann MacGath 26 of Columbus drove off the road on old Rt 33 near Enterprise. Bonnie L Myers 20 of Rockbridge Rt 2 lost control on Rt 180 near Rt 33 causing damage and a ditch rest. No citations issued in either case.
Hocking County officials expect new authority from an emergency amendment to allow the county to contract franchise or own a landfill operation. The move could enable a city county solid waste district plan, previously blocked by a prosecutor’s ruling that only leasing land was allowed. A joint meeting proposed a shared landfill and city sewage treatment, but no decision was reached.
Government offices and most banks will be closed Monday for the Presidents Day holiday honoring Apollo 11 astronauts. Businesses stay open. Logan-Hocking library closes. bookmobile stops at Laurelville South Perry and Enterprise postponed to the next Monday. Traffic court cases in Hocking County continued to the following Monday.
