The U S government can cap prices for surplus farm goods such as wheat corn cotton and dairy products using existing farm surplus laws. Henry L. Stimson, 84, former Secretary of War, was admitted to Doctors Hospital in New York with a broken hip. Hospital officials said his condition is satisfactory.
At 10 A M a two car crash on East Front Street damaged a cement banister and porch areas. Farl G. Davis 20 Athens and William Sayre Logan drove the cars. The Athens Buick Co car swerved to avoid Sayre and struck a home porch damaging a double brick foundation. No injuries were reported.
Marine Corps recruiting Sgt. Tom Aspen recalls a visitor asking if he was in the fightin U S Marines or the reserves. The sergeant confirms it is the Marines, prompting the visitor to note he is in the wrong place.
