In Los Angeles on July 16 probate court disclosed Beulah Louise Overell’s estate valued at 309,977 dollars. Executors reported the 18 year old, whose parents Walter E Overell and wife died in a dynamited yacht attack, inherits after she and former lover George Gollum were acquitted of murder charges.
Joshua Tolliver reports his black two door automobile trimmed in red was stolen from in front of his 162 Iron Street home early yesterday. The vehicle is described with license plates numbered Y.
Gov. Ben T. Laney of Arkansas said he and other delegates will not attend a Birmingham conference of Southern leaders. Pittsburgh July 16 United Steelworkers and U.S. Steel Corp agreed to an hourly pay rise averaging 13 cents raising labor costs. The increase ranges from 9 to 25 cents across multiple job classifications and will force higher prices to cover the added costs.

Army troops Navy personnel and Air Force units will join a national salute with flags at half mast and a Sunday to Monday ceremonies at Walter Reed Arlington and the Capitol. Pershing chose Arlington grave site near comrades from France and will lie in state in the Capitol rotunda.
Elmer Curnutt, 21, a transient from Otas Kentucky, is scheduled for execution in Ohio's electric chair for the December 2 slaying of a Cincinnati cafe owner. Governor Herbert refused a stay and the pardon commission recommended the death penalty. Curnutt ordered a final meal and was visited by several siblings as he nears the electric chair at the Lt prison.
Senator J Howard McGrath was retained as chairman of the Democratic National Committee at a post convention session in Philadelphia. He said President Truman will win the November election, praising Truman’s courage and confidence.

In Wapakoneta Ohio on July 16 a five year old Tommy Presar and four year old Pat Hein locked themselves inside an unused ice box. When found by Tommy’s mother Mrs Jone Gand the children were dead. The accident occurred at Tommy’s home and the surrounding conditions were reported as fair.
