Barton Eugene Payne aged 48 of Laurelville was shot to death in a crowded tavern near South Bloomingville Saturday night. James Gilbert Woodgeard, 52, Laurelville Route 2, is charged with second degree murder and held in Hocking County jail on a 15000 dollar bond. The case notes motive may not be required for conviction.
