President Roosevelt announced in a letter to Democratic chairman Hannegan that he will accept the Democratic nomination and serve a fourth term if the people command him. He stressed he would not seek reelection in the traditional sense, but would serve if the sovereign people order him to continue during the war.
Ed Cuff Balch keeps a gray fox named Mike as a pet near Enterprise. The fox, read as a puppy, loves corn flakes and milk and roams at night around the yard. In a separate note, twin Hartmann brothers Jim and Joe, from Logan Route 1, trace their Army paths since 1943, with Jim’s surgery, reassignments, and eventual reunion at Camp McCoy, then Ft. Columbus Ohio July 11 infantile paralysis cases are mounting in Ohio but there is no cause for alarm says Dr R H Mark state health director. He notes the annual seasonal upswing has begun and the number of cases so far this year 338 is comparable to the early season in prior years.

Motion picture star Gail Patrick will marry Lt Arnold Dean White USN of Circleville Ohio today in Jacksonville Florida. The romance began last May in New York and Patrick, on a bond selling tour, was previously divorced in 1940 from Bob Cobb of Hollywood.

Struthers 15 year old James William Bancozi drowned Monday afternoon in the pool at Yellow Creek Park Youngstown Ohio. The tragedy occurred during a youth outing with local residents and authorities investigated the incident.
