In Colorado Reagan gains five of the nine delegates vs Ford ten in North Dakota. Reagan holds 984 delegates to Ford’s 1,031 with 171 uncommitted and 71 to be chosen. Reagan forecasts a first ballot win. Ford sees the same.
Reporters tour the $15.4 million two story Pentagon nerve center used to direct U S forces in crises. The facility replaces the 14 year old unit and features six giant displays and a hotline to Moscow. President Ford’s location is tracked along with succession leaders.
More than 600 Carter staffers and volunteers moved into a Manhattan hotel to run the campaign's convention operations. The staff wore color coded IDs, prepared for Jimmy Carter's arrival, and planned a meeting with Sen. Henry M. Jackson as part of VP consideration.
California Republican Rep. Charles Wiggins has introduced a resolution to expel Rep. Andrew Hinshaw after Hinshaw's January conviction on two counts of bribery. The measure, referred to the House ethics committee, could proceed if no action is taken within six weeks. Hinshaw faces two 1 to 14 year terms and had resisted resignation.

She will live with two Japanese families, write a 400 word report, share a photo album, and bring gifts including a pincushion and Irish lace handkerchief, while traveling with other U S participants on United and Japan Airlines.
A one car crash on Ohio 56 at Salt Creek bridge killed Richard Wade Wagner 26 of Circleville. The pipefitter and Local 798 member died after his car left the road at high speed and struck the guard rail plunging off the bridge. Surviving relatives include three brothers and five sisters. Funeral services set for Tuesday in South Bloomingville with burial in Otterbein Cemetery.
