County Extension Agent James R. Smoot announced that Russell Beery and Ed Foltz were the first two men in the county to register for the annual men's camp at Camp Ross-Hocking August 5-6. Smoot said attendance this year will likely be unusually heavy. A bridge spanning the Hocking River on Plains Road north of Athens collapsed after a motorist reported loose planks and the patrol closed the road.

Detained man questioned after fatal Cincinnati grocer shooting
